Mogadishu was once a city built by all Somalis. Yes it was huge city but these images you see today in Google earth are vacant and ruined structures. If you are talking about the outline of what Xamar used to be, yes it is bigger than Hargeisa and always will be. But today, hargeisa is a cosmopolitan city with multiple dynamic neighborhoods and Mogadishu is reduced to Bakkaraha which used to be caano (milk) market. So would say Hargeisa!

Ninyahow I`m tired of typing, I`m just gonna call it a day if you don`t mind. Mogadishu iyo Hargeisa mida weyn waa la ogayahay.

With that being said, Hargeisa is a lovely city, waa peaceful waana maagalo tagtay ee ilaahey haa idin siyadiyo, idinka iyo anagaba

Siciid and Digdahab :sland:  Calanyahow ha dhicin  it was nice have a discussion with you(by this I mean running a train on you) I`m OUT

Despite the continous chaos and warfare in Xamar the amount of business and trade going on there is mind-boggling. There is just too much capital and property in that city for people to just get up and leave. When times get rough people move from one section of the city to another and lets not forget that Mogadisho has the best infrastructure and roads in the whole Somalia. No city in Somaliland can compete with Mogadishu.

There's a neighborhood djibouti called Burco Kibir...maxay Kibri...waa bulo yar yar meeshu...like what they call Favellas in South America. Another neighborhood is called Jagabuldhuq, and another is Kartoon, all the houses are made of Kartoon (cardboards)
kartoon and burca kibir ...both my old neighbourhoods
btw were those neighbourhoods that bad? i don't remember it like that
we used to look down on the quartiers because most of the houses were made from tin but in going back to the old country in 1997, I realized that the whole place, including our own neighborhood were slums by normal standards.
