Where does Hargiesa city get its water supply?

Postby RuralMan08 » Mon Mar 14, 2011 9:41 am

I was discussing water resources with somebody and the topic shifted to how cities get water. I want to know from where does Hargeisa gain their water supply? The rainfall is more predominant in the West like Arabsiyo, Gabiley etc but probably less in Hargeisa. So is it wells or is there an untapped water source nearby?

from Geed_deebleh wells which is about 15 to 20 km north of hargiesa. water are treated dabadeedna magaalada ayaa loo soo furaa. ingiriiska ayaa makii hore dhisay during 1950s and was further upgraded by somali government mid 1980s. unfortunately there are currently some water shortages because of a lack of sufficient investment and the fact that the city is growing immensely. only 70% of households get a regular water supply.

70% is a large number mashallah, for a city the size of Hargeisa that is a great thing
