an idea that went down well with his audience, Shire said Somaliland suggested the Somali diaspora make a $1 voluntary contribution to the state when they send remittances, which would come to between $300m and $400m a year. Several people in the audience said they would be willing to contribute much more than $1, while Quman Jibril Akli, from Somaliland Focus UK, went so far as to say the $1 contribution should be made compulsory
Thats is brilliant idea, all Somalilanders in diaspora should pay decent amount of money towards Somaliland economy. The saving accounts should be controlled by a independent team rather than the government though??an idea that went down well with his audience, Shire said Somaliland suggested the Somali diaspora make a $1 voluntary contribution to the state when they send remittances, which would come to between $300m and $400m a year. Very interesting Concept. I want every Somalilander here to start thinking about that above quote for a moment. How many of us are willing to contribute tiny fraction of our money towards our country?
I think 99% of us can afford at least $50/month to be put in savings's account for the development of Somaliland.
Those who would make that pledge, please go ahead and say so.

Doesn't this fall under the SomaliLand Development Group to Look after these funds?very trustworthy group of people should manage it and there should be several layers of people who do oversight to ensure the money doesnt' disapear.
