Back to the story, Al-Shabaab receives massive support from Somaliland authority and Somaliland businessmen; and since both leadership of Al-Shabaab Ahmed Abdi Godane (Al-Shabaab Amir) and Ibrahim AL-Afghani (Al-Shabaab second in-command) all hail from Somaliland, have their wives in Somaliland, and have close relationship with Somaliland political leaders, the Al-Shabaab leadership have chosen to sabotage any peace, nomalcy, and sustainable governance that emerges in South, Central, and PL State of Somalia until Somaliland receives theever-elusive recognition it is pursuing. The fact is the presence of Al-Shabaab in Somaliland's major cities such as Hargeisa, Burao, and Berbera is not a low-profile, it is a state sanctioned presence, where Al-Shabaab members who hail from Somaliland are being sheltered and supported through finanancial and foreign travel means. Truth is Somaliland authority are fine with Al-Shabaab presence in its territories provided that they are destabilizing other parts of Somali Republic.

The Somaliareport and other investigative Somali journalists should look at the close relationships between Al-Shabaab leadership and the Somaliland Intelligence. This is where the connection start, and it runs through all the way up to the Somaliland cabinet.
