I hope its not too late to switch into chemical engineering

first of all it is never going to be too late to switch to chemical engineering as they will be needed literately for centuries in Somalia/Somaliland and other developing countries.

However Petroleum Engineers and geologist are the ones dealing with these surveys and explorations, the oil industry is split into two parts, the upstream(exploration/extraction) and the downstream(extraction/refining/manufacturing), chemical Engineers will be needed in the downstream which is really where the steady flow of big bucks are to be made.

However Chemical Engineering degree are 100 times harder, than Geology or Petroleum Engineering.

There was some seismic surveys taken by Prime Resources/Petrosoma in the region in 2006. However this will be the first of its kind.

So basically this is the first drilling, we will not know what to expect then, hopefully it will bring good results.
