Why don't we call our currency the IDOOR. There is no other word that is synomymous with trade than this word.

It may sound funny. But consider in 20 or so years, the Idoor would have a solid footing in the world of currency.
It would have the symbol ID. i.e. 400 ID.

I like the sound of that,
and why not go further and change the name of the country.
lets do what ghana did and steal a name from a more famous location.
original ghana was historically in Mali. The same thing Haille sellasie did when he stole the name of Ethiopia from Sudan.
Biblical and historic Ethiopia had nothing to do with todays Ethiopia, it was the region around Khartoum.
I suggest we steal the name Awdal, or Adal. this is better because part of the original awdal is already in Somaliland.

Country name: Adal Republic
currency: Idoor.
The term idoor, when used in historical context is not too far off either; ii door simply means "choose wisely for me".

This is basically what I've been advocating for ages. Somaliland is a silly name for a country, and smacks of a lack of imagination. Somaliland sounds like a theme park, not a country. It also links back to the days of colonialism, which should be an embarrassment for every somali.
Adal sounds great, and it also links back to our history. I personally prefer Hargeisa, since the Hargeisan Empire sounds cool.
With regards to money, again its embarrassing to call our money shilling another remnant of colonialism. It also used in Kenya and Uganda. Idoor sounds weird, but at least its a somali word.
Waits for all the cadaan-worshippers to rush in.

What a great idea. Our currency should be called Idoor (ID). The word originates from poor Ogaden folks bartering with Isaaq merchants. The Ogaden person will say can you please pick what will be good for me (idoore)? We should get rid of the colonial name and change it to Republic of Somal.

Yes we made up the name but it was sayid mohamed who named you guys eydoor because your people were entirely dependent on the english during those times so he called you eydoor which means look after me. Poor isags dont even understand the parody of what they propose.

Thats a wonderful idea, though its better implemented at a time of stability. Somaliland is a loaded word both politically and emotionally. There is an investment of 20+ years; in many ways its a 'brand', and it would be foolish to abandon the name just yet. Case in point, I met KofI Annan last year, and was chatting to him and his wife Nane Lagergren when she asked where I was from, I said I am Somali and left it at that, she quickly said: From Somalia or Somaliland?
Granted she is the wife of a former secretary general of the United Nations, there is an obvious investment in the name.
Just my 0.2 Idoor (ID).
