I saw you claim in another thread (not sure which one) that the moving
of the capital of Kililka shanaad from Godey to Jigjiga was a good thing
in the interests of the Isaaq.

Can you explain why you think this to be the case?

Talking to relatives and close family who come from there, I get the impression
most of the Isaaq didn't want the capital moved to Jigjiga and the former Isaaq president
of kililka shanaad was told this many times. All it did was bring the Daarood to our doorstep.
who now dominate the city politically (Not sure if economically yet).
The jigjiga you were speaking highly of has lost its majority Isaaq status, and this process has sped

Jijiga is better as the regional capital in the long term than Diredawa which is not only far from Isaaq sphree of influence but also economically its not suitable for us. If Diredawa was still the regional capital, the Issa would most likely claim it and they would connect it to Djibouti and there wouldn't be such thing as the planned Berbera Corridor in the picture.

Djibouti already dominates the port and railway and had the capital remained in Diredawa even the little business flow from Somaliland region to Somali Region would account to almost zero. Jijiga is hot a hostile territory its under Isaaq ally Jidwaaq. What you need to understand is Ogaden intra-war and animosity is bigger than the one they have for Isaaq. Things are more complex than the naked eye sees.

I can't explain everything here but lets just say there are a lot of hidden balance of powers...one sub-clan uses another from a complete different reer to counter another, then the other in turn uses the other against rival immediate relative ones.

I agree with the former President, moving it to Jijiga was the best thing he did and the city will eventually be influence and populated by those that live around it. The current conflicts and Habeshi oppression tactics are only temporary. Abdi Iley is only temporary but Jijiga is a step away and we can go there at any time and populate compared to Diredawa and the far Shinile region.

SL is a problem because it has isolated Isaaq people and made them retreat. They all confined themselves between three useless towns/villages.

That's why I don't like it. Jijiga is well deserving and the Jidwaq are closer to us than many other Cagdheer.

My point was sxb Jigjiga would have been far easier to influence had there not been an influx
of Ogaden coming in from their lands. You can't deny Jigjiga isn't like the old days where
the majority within the city were Isaaq.

I won't deny that we are also responsible for the retreat, (I believe it dates from the 1970s onwards)
but the feeling was despite underdevelopment in jigjiga, a far away capital in the form of Godey would have
ensured the Daaroods moved towards there, leaving jigjiga within our influence as it was as recently as the 1990s.

What is the demographics like these days? Are people still running for Hargeysa?

Godey only served as the capital for two years and imagine going to the end of Ogaden country just to get Ethiopian documents and visa application but Jijiga is an hour away now. He did the best thing anyone could have done. The future prosper of Jijiga will enrich our region and overall the Isaaq and Jidwaq that live in its surrounding.

Godey would have only benefited few reer Abdille. ONLF would easily over run Godey.

Don't measure things with the current temporary things as everyone is trying to find their place. Somaliland is as temporary as Abdi Iley but Jidwaq-Isaaq (especially Cidagale) alliance is eternal.

Tomorrow, a Tigray senior official can arrive in Jijiga and tell Abdi Iley to shift time is up and on that very spot they can put a Isaaq at the helm. Isaaq President can rule Jijiga but not Godey...Godey is hell lot of a new ball game and going to the various Ogaden territory and villages with the many different animosity, divide, issues is not an easy task.

Isaaq never used to dominate Jijiga that's a complete lie nor was it Ogaden dominated. Jijiga was originally Amhara and Oromo strong held town. The TPLF slowly removed them and the Somalis (in particular the Jidwaq) filled up the vacated spaces thanks to President Hassan Jire Qalinle, who convinced Somalis to reclaim their city.

Everything that you see used to belong to Amhara and Oromo civil servants from Mengistu era and before him. They were the establishment. They still hold many important places but they are being urged to leave and they no longer feel safe. If the Amhara return to power, they might expel the Jidwaaq...so Ethiopia is like that.

with most of the Somalis being Isaaq, Bartire (whom the deegaan belongs to)
where entirely reer miyi.
I've heard the Xabashis have left in huge numbers but Oromos still remain.

My next question is what are the demographics of Jigjiga beryahan dambe.

I don't understand why you did that. Not only you, but all Isaaq do that. Does it make you guys feel better to compare yourself with sub/sub/sub clans of Darodka? You grouped all Isaaq as one and then had the nerve to not mention Darod nor Kablalah nor Absame, but rather Jidwaaq. Miyaadan oogayn in Darodku Jigjiga iyo Haudba deego?

The contraband thing is very annoying. People can tolerate
political marginalisation but not an economic one. Business ahaan
