parts of it look like a tacky Somali living room rather than something you'd find in an airport

It's because we are imposing a western benchmark on an African build

I would say it looks nice if it was for a restaurant or hotel, but this is an airport for goodness sakes. Yeah $5 million is not much for an airport renovation, but if you think all of it went to this airport you must be crazy.

The "renovation" of Hargeisa's airport underlines the corruption & mismanagement in the Kulmiye government

We tend to forget that we are Somalis. Of course we are not going to build Western infrastructure. We tend to forget that 90% will be pocketed. People have too high standards

It looks very bad. It looks like a combination of a restaurant, hotel, someone's house, a school and some office buildings. What do expect when it is project managed by incompetent Somalis, with a nomadic mentality. Aspects of it look ok, by Somali standards, like the exterior of the Departures Terminal:

But what the hell is this eyesore:

At Mansoor or Ambassador Hotel, yes , but at an International Airport, no.
