The Somaliland government banned the Somalia's E passport so no individual carrying the Somalia E PASSPORT can enter Somaliland or leave Somaliland even leaving to Ethiopia or any other countries in the region. Although i can understand what drove the SL goverment for taking and adopting these kinds of new laws But implementing such policies will be harsh and will have some drastic consequences for both Somalia and Somaliland and their future relationship also for the people who move and roam in between. What about the Somalis from Somalia who own businesses, in Somaliland how will they able to enter Somaliland or even leave Somaliland?
I know the profound intentions of the Ethiopian government. The Ethiopian government wants to halt the influx of Somalis entering Ethiopia. Because they are taking some security measures in their own country because of the alleged attacks few days ago in Ethiopia. Somalilands deep conflict with Somalia regarding their non existent relationship made it very easy for Ethiopia and Somaliland to be on the same page in here. While Somaliland is not thinking of the long term. The Ethiopians recognize the Somaliland passport but what will stop them in the future to restrict Somalilanders from enter their lands in Ethiopia, what than?. What are the solutions remember before we had the movements of people between and SL and Somalia this will make it impossible , Somaliland goverment will not accept any one from Somalia who wants to enter Somaliland with Somalia passport the same way Ethiopia stopped Somalis from Somalia entering Ethiopia. With such a political driven appraisal where do we stand in a few years. I will not go in details what the real solutions are with the political dispute between Somalia and Somaliland and the AIR space dispute we cant think of any and with 1.5 year talking we are not a step closer. And now we have reached another stage of this i wonder what the future will bring.
