Recognition will be swiftly followed by IMF, World bank vultures. And judging from the inability to even build roads or sewage systems in 20 years, I doubt SL politicians will have the braincells to say fck off. It would be different if someone politically-savvy like Cigaal was in power.
Then why pray and dance for recognition? I have long suspected that SL can achieve most, if not all, of it's aims without formal recognition. If it threw itself fully in building infrastructure and training people for they last two decades, it would be growing exponentially. But instead, we get saddled with, like the rest of Africa, AID-addicted nepotistic corrupt leaders who would hand over the country to cadaans in a heart-beat. Just look how they report on and celebrate every non-entity gaal that lands in Hargeisa Airport. These people are still mentally colonised. The crux of the problem is mentality.

cold war will not affect somaliland.

only the discovery of oil will chnage the dynamics overnight.
this is why the genel exploration was delayed.

If anyone discovers oil in commercial quantities , recognition will follow in 48 hours.
if not then oil revenue is equal or greater benefit than recognition.
Sometimes i get confused as to when you joking and when you serious.

like the above comments!

Too much hyperbole but the jist of it is true.
oil discovery means gaurenteed recognition.
even if it is withheld for a bit longer moqadisho would give up hope
because It closes whatever little avenue it had to pursue somaliland
due to the oik revenues
.
