who are Ogaden the Walashama?? is this your latest Daarood propaganda , because if its you are breaking the record here.
His abtirsi matches that which Cerulli wrote down.

Umar, son of Dunyahuz, son of Ahmed, son of Muhammed, son of Hamid, son of Yusuf, son of Barkanti.

Cerulli assumed Yusuf ibn Barkanti was Yusuf Barkhadle (it's not, Barkhadle was his nickname not his father's name) but this is incorrect.

Barkanti is a small branch of Sacad Muddan Muqabul it's still around.
Yuusuf Aw Barkhadle and Yuusuf Al-Kawaynayn are tow different men as I have explained on the other thread. Barkhadle is a nickname and as far as we know he was Isaaq from the Garxajis clan and lived during the 17 century up to the early 19 century , he was the head of the Dhabar well tariiqa, just like sheikh Cali Arab was the head of the Haahi tariiqa and Sheekh Madar the Hargaysa one.

Yusuf aw Barkhadle did probably live much later in history as did his confrontation with Bucur Bacayr (Yibir abtirsi are 13 generations or so, so the 16th century sounds about right, Yusuf aw-Barkhadle's nisba also points to a later period).

I don't know about him and Yuusuf al-Kawnayn being different people, though that could be the case, generally I was under the impression that al-Kawnayn al-Ikhwaan was his Arabic nickname, and aw Barkhadle was his Somali nickname.

Nope they are tow different men , we have both Somali oral history, poetry and western British sources like Curttenden's travel through Somaliland in 1840's where he interviewed the shrine keepers and stated that Yuusuf Aw Barkhadle was a Garxajis saint .

So if this Yusuf Barkhadle is Garxajis and the Walashma claim descent from him, then the Walashma are Garxajis? Or do they claim Yusuf Kawanayn? :dwill:

They confuse the tow, Yuusuf Al-Kawnayn as far as we know is a Hassani Sharif who came to Zeila along the other 40 missionaries including Sheekh Isxaaq , that Arab is later confused with the Cabdi Ciise Mullah Yuusuf Aw Barkhadle a cousin of Sultan Guuleed of the Ciidagale who just died late 1700's .

There was no Daarood anywhere near Zeila, in fact most of the Daarood moved from Puntland region around the end of the 1700s . The Isaaq moved into Sanaag before the Daaroods and the Isaaq moved towards Zeila before the Daaroods,

While the main Darod center was Gidaya and Hargaya (the Jigjiga region to north of Harar), there were of course Darod in Zeila, there were all clans in Zeila, it was an economic and political center, the Muqdisho if it's day. Modern Zeila is a ghost town and a ruin, the town was completely destroyed when the Portuguese burned it to the ground in the 1600s. The Turks rebuilt the modern town of Zeila, which has been slowly crumbling ever since. There used to be a ton of Arabs in Zeila who mostly left for Yemen following Somali independence, and a surprisingly large Jewish population who all moved to Israel in the 1960s.

The Adal state was a multi-clan state. Adal had Hawiye, Darod, Dir, Isaaq, Argobba, Cafar and Arabs all living together in one state.

Jews in Adal? Not that I'm surprised but do you have a source for this?

They were Yemeni Jews from Aden, not natives, part of the Arab population of the town. There were once 50,000 Yemeni Jews, several hundred in Zeila and Berbera (each city had a synagogue).
This site has photos of the Berbera synagogue (doesn't look like much now) http://safarisomalilandtour.com/index.p ... eing-tours

I'm not surprised bro Sacad of Maqaabul had influence and political power in every Absame/ogadeen sultanet or ugaaset even when some of the ugasets were held by the other Absame and ogaadeen subclans. Every story that dates back to those times has sacad mentioned in't.

James Dahl, Can you give me links to any ebooks or sites that I can read about this Walashma Sacad dynasty?

The maqabul ugas who lived during sultan Magan around 1890s is from the walashma subclan.

I don't think anyone's ever written a book just about the Walashma dynasty, though someone really should.

There are a few books that mention them, or include parts of the Walashma Chronicle (which is little more than a list of sultans).
