A somali is someone who speaks somali and patrilineally descends from either Dir, Isaaq, Darood or Hawiye. Tumaal, Madhibaan, D&M etc are also somali but descend from Sab.

There were ancient Somali tribes who lived around the coast who do not belong to the modern Clans u named above , Most of the clans above named existence is roughly 1000 years. But there were many Somalis who predate and spoke Somali not as we know it today there were many Clans lost during the battles some were annexed by the Amhara Ifat conquerors.
You mean Ancient Dir Tribes

Like the Madigaan, etc I think Gurgura were up there at one point along the coasts, and a few more

you don't want to mention names niyow

what somalis were annexed into the amhara? :|

Many moved to Djibouti , djibouti still have some wave of walashma others moved to Harar others are in Borama carabta Borama After the defeat of Adal many assimilated joined the emerging powerful clans. But keep in mind the Walashma communities were not more than 10.000 people mostly living in and around seylac
Wardiiq then spread the Deen throughout Somalia

we are everywhere,

Proof for those against Somalili Oral Tradition and future naysayers
from the Harari historian (remember the great library of harar contains fascinating somali history  and was the second Capital of the Awdal EmPIRE )
Shiekh Abibakr Ba Alawi ashanbali , he states the history of the land,
the walashma dynasty were "native" to the land ( Dir are the first "somalis" as you all know)
secondly they claim to be descendent of Yusuf Al Kownayn, a Wardiiq (Dir) man

We over threw the arabs in shoa and ruled it

Information from this PDF
written for the Service d'Information of Djibouti

the wardiiqs ( some call us walashama i guess) still exist and live all over Somalia

now hence the "ogadeen claims to awdal" lol im dying, this is funnier then the "ahmed gurey was marehan" spiel they were spouting a few years back

if walashma= wardiiq and wardiiq=dir

There is no "Dir" mentioned anywhere in your source. A lot of clans are native to the area. The arab descent is a myth conjured uo by self-hating malis.

The Ogaden link with Omar Walashma and the first Kingdom in Zeila ,, has never been there i dont know who injected it there, but the Ogaden did their migration from Puntland region thats where all the kuumbos trace their lineage back i believe some where in this 13 century they moved into the Inlands of what is today the Ogaden country. Not via Zeila

The Amhara used to raid the western part of Somaliland and around jigjiga and harar but this was in the 12 century prior to the first Islamic Kingdom of Shawa remember many of these Amharans were not Christians at some time some of them were Muslim others were argobas..

look at the term "native" and "yusuf al kownwayn" if you are from Awdal this makes perfect sense ( kownayn was wardiiq from zaylac etc.)

anyways the source stands, is the truth

Khalid the point is walashma were never ogadeen maybe ogadeen wants to claim them to be their king, i don't know :? , but the proof has been provided for those who have issues with somali oral tradition.

Walashma predates the Ogaden clan the Ogaden clan trace 27 to their absame ancestor the walashma were around the 11 century, There is no clear evidence that Umar DunyaHuz was the great grand son of Absame clan Dont believe what Wikepedia feeds you

agree it doesn't make any sense for ogadeen to claim the walashma people

walashama are not ogadeen nor were they ever.

Casear you make a good point about sheegatos, why do some Ogaden clans claim to be related to Gadabursi? This needs to stop. They aren't reer ugas let's face it. It's ok, though every clan has their own little group of self-designated monarchy.

Trying to annoy the heck out of Hilaac, but still holds water, Adal is not yours you do not live anywhere near it.
