Universal TV’s Ajakis, a high profile television host, offers a tearful apology and asks forgiveness to Somaliland president Ahmed Mohamed Mohamoud “Silanyo” and Somaliland people after his satire program portrayed president Silanyo as a forgetful, elderly figure who gave family members access to administrative posts.
The well-known commentator, Abdi Mawlid Ajakis who hosts Universal TV’s “Faaliyaha Qaranka” show triggered a furious row with his comedy sketch of Somaliland President Ahmed Mohamed Mohamoud “Silanyo” in February this year.
The satire program which portrayed President Silanyo as an ineffective aging leader who cannot run his government prompted Somaliland government to indefinitely ban the U.K.-based private broadcaster Universal TV.
In video posted on YouTube the famous commentator offers his apology and asks forgiveness to Somaliland president Ahmed Mohamed Mohamoud “Silanyo”, Information Minister Abdilahi Cukuse and Somaliland people.
“I would like to offer my deepest apology ask their forgiveness to Somaliland president Ahmed Silanyo, information Minister and Somaliland people” Ajakis said.
“My intention was not to be malicious, but I broke the ground rule.” Ajakis added.
Is his satire program “Faaliyaha Qaranka” Ajakis aired a satirical interview with an actor playing the role of President Ahmed Mohamed Mohamoud. The actor portrayed the president as a forgetful, elderly figure who gave family members access to administrative posts.
