term was used by the caghdheers. basically we traded timir and cloths in exchange for their camels

Centuries ago, there was a poor Isaaq man who had many daughters. He went to an Ogadeen noble and asked him for food, and in exchange the Ogadeen man would choose (doorasho) which daughter he wanted. Hence the name "Iidoor."

how can isaaq man go to darod man who lives in a barren wasteland with no access to port for food
the truth is that isaaq traders from berbera used to sell things like sugar, timir and other items for geela long foot. Hence ii door i,e exchange for me

Why would someone who's in a dominating position with commodities like rice, dates, sugar, clothes give away his daughters?
The term Iidoor comes from the two words ii door i.e choose for me. People use to barter and since Isaaq had the upper hand they would choose for the opposite side.
Btw, It was Ogaden who use to give away their daughters, that's why many Isaaq got Cagdheer blood somewhere along the line including myself. Isaaq didn't give their daughters to others back then because they had principles and values that they lost the last 60 years.

"idoor" is not an insult. But the way i see it is the sound of the word that is funny hence other thinking of it as an insult. It is more of making fun of the word than the meaning its self. But I dont care cos am bad ass idoor!
