ADDIS ABABA- The Mayor of Hargeisa met his Addis Ababa counterpart on Thursday on a special visit, celebrating the town’s twinning links.
The Honorable Mr. Abdirahman Mohamed Aidid, the Mayor of Hargeisa paid a working visit to Addis Ababa the capital city of Ethiopia and yesterday attended the signing ceremony of a town twining agreement between Addis Ababa and Hargeisa.
The two officials sealed the agreement which aims to promote bilateral ties of friendship in various areas, including economy, culture, education, tourism, arts and sports. It also provides for joint cooperation in cultural exchange.
The two officials in a prolonged meeting discussed the diplomatic relations between the two neighboring countries especially the two cities.
This was revealed in a press statement issued from the Ethiopian Consulate Office in Hargeisa.
The mayor of Hargeisa Honorable Abdirahman Mohamed Aidid is accompanied by the Somaliland representative office to Ethiopia Hon. Ayanle Salad Derie.
Mr. Aidid appealed to his Addis Ababa counterpart to provide trainings to Hargeisa City Hall Staff so that they will be trained to collect tax and building city streets and to have the right city plan.
Addis Ababa mayor Hon. Kuma Demksa has accepted the request from hi Somaliland counterpart and added that they are ready to help.
Finally, Mr. Aidid, Mayor of Hargeisa has invited his Addis Ababa counterpart to pay visit to Hargeisa, the capital of Somaliland.
Mr. Aidid embarked on working visit to Nairobi, the capital city of Kenya and Ethiopian capital city of Addis Ababa.
Addis is a great and historical city and pride of Africa.
