For example Waqooyi qalbeed is pure Sheekh isxaaq and most of togdheer, but in togdheer there are the dholos in buhoodle, whereas in sool which mostly dholos but also have districts of sheer isxaaq like caynaba.
also sanag have all sheekh isxaaq+dholos+wasakhgeli ...moreover, the dhabayco and sacad live in mudug.

.so how can you calulate each tribe based on that survey if they live in the same region.

There is a lot of estimation when it comes to the population. This one is nothing special, there is no count for the districts within the regions. So it could easily "bend". The most reliable census toke place in 2005 with every district in consideration.

Ramsey, can you drop a link?

This estimation is rubbish and far from reality!

Yes I agree with samatar its useless because the total number of Somalia population is far more bigger than 10 million. Somaliland is about 4 million. And walaweys are about 12 million.

Ramzy, I can't download a thing from the link you posted.
Even if I could, it would not have proved anything.
What is published in unknown and secondary sources does not prove anything.
Where are primary sources? has UNFPA, the UN agency tasked for population estimations, published anything?

 Contrary to your few, I believe 12 million for Somalia and Somaliland is a little over estimation but credible. What I am concerned is not about the total number but the share of the regions.

And this kid Togdheer or whatever his nick is; is this his way of insulting Somaliland by comparing it with regional states in Somalia?

Lool samatar marku afweyne dhacay 24 years ago ayey somalia 10 milyan ahayd. At that time bosaso was a village and hargeisa was not as big as its today. Even buuhootle is 5 times bigger than it was 24 years ago. total number of Somalia Somaliland population is no less than 15 million if not more.

the hot climate Djibouti city population is 496,374 I take Djibou as an example because their civil registration is the most asvanced in east africa, almost every citizen is registered. If you compare the satellite view of hargeisa and djibouti you can clearly see that hargeisa is way bigger than Djibouti. So I beleive hargeisa is 1 million or very close to 1 million people.

Ramzy, thanks I can now download both. The two links you gave, one puts the urban population of Sanaag 59 thousand and the other 159 thousand , It must by typo. But that show they have not edited them well.
There many things that are not credible in this estimation, one example, Togdheer region having much fewer nomadic population than awdal region  , that is not credible at all.

I will read your links more thoroughly later on and respond to them but they still remain secondary sources, one humanitarian site and the other NGO. But is possible that UNFPA, as they claimed, gave the details of the estimation to the government of Somalia and other organisations without publishing first itself.
