We don't need tourism. Is this axmaq administration capable of doing anything right? Tourism brings uskag into the country. It is also an unreliable industry that can be hit by anything. All there needs to be is one alshabab explosion and that's your whole tourism pipe-dream industry fcked. I don't want SL to become one of the hunderds of two-bit banana republics that only have tourism as their main industry like the carribean islands or shitty african/asian countries like nepal or mozambique or tunisia.

What we need is real engine for growth and stability. That can only be achieved by industrialisation and manufacture. If you look at every rich country, the service sector is literally the last thing they invest in. They all got rich from industrialisation and exporting manufactured goods. It's how you become a successful, self-reliant and powerful nation. Iran is million times better than Egypt, a tourist hot-spot, despite sanctions because it produces and exports everything it needs. As opposed to egypt which imports technology and even food, despite sitting on the nile.

How can you even have a tourist sector with no f-king infrastructure? :mindblown:

I wouldn't write tourism off completely.....It can play a part in stimulating a domestic tourist industry. :)

Perhaps but more harm may come from it than good. I also think there is not much to see. Those cave paints.....they are just painting in cave from while back. They are literally nothing else. As for the red sea, big deal! 2/3 of this planet is water unless offcourse you are from sool and togdeer and need to see the sea. Lol

Somalia can develop a domestic tourism industry.....as peace returns and the economy grows....folk will have the time and money for leisure pursuits.
We should be looking at sport fishing, scuba diving, paragliding, power boats, eco tourism, water parks, theme parks, festivals, sport events like iron man, strong man.....I would even suggest a beauty pageant...Miss Haegeisa....Burco...Las Anod....Baydhabo...Xamar etc all competing for the title
Miss Somalia. :)

As I said......tourism is what you make it....we have over 3000km of coast, coral reefs, cliffs, mountains, islands, lagoons and some of the best beaches in Africa. Only a fool would write this natural asset off.
The beauty pageants don't have to be the western kind...the women won't be naked etc.
PS we could even bring in Menace to be one of the judges. :)
