Attorney General Hassan Ahmed Adan of the Republic of Somaliland was among the dignitaries received by the Queen at Buckingham Palace. The meeting was attended by representatives of 120 governments.

Although , the UK does not formally recognise Somaliland , the country provides special status to Somaliland through facilitation of Aid , training of security forces and creating platforms for communications with Somalia.
Somaliland seceded from Somalia on May 18 1991 after the bloody civil war that had left tens of thousands of Somalilanders dead. The country has since held two presidential elections , three local government elections and one parliamentary election.
