Just when you think you've heard it all......this comes up.
There is no doubt...that if it wasn't for the darwiish..... these people would be Christians today.

I have seen this clip where some pro faqash elements criticising him to be called mujaahid because of his looks although I am not sure about his religion. of course any one who contributed SNM is mujahid to me regardless of his religion. my question is was he actually contributed any thing to SNM ? the reporter said he recorded many SNM videos. Please share if you can get any of his works. its good to know any one who supported us during the halgan or the first somaliland nation building years.

what have i exaggerated or when was i being irrational. the title of the thread is asking if a cadaan guy was a muj. simple answer is no.

you see of us in the Somaliland community have deep-rooted connection with snm and its heritage. whilst others like youself are interested in their heritage from Djibouti and Jigjigga.

Tbh I do not believe there is such a thing as an Islamic state.
I would argue that the concept of a state (in the modern post 1648 peace of westphalia sense) is alien to Muslim tradition.
The Khilaafa is not in any way close to the lunatics running around Syria and Ciraaq calling themselves IS.
That being said ...we are not in the past, nor can such a system be brought back (certainly not in our lifetimes).

We are Muslims and that means Religion will always play a role in our private lives and the public sphere of our home country.

Those arguing against giving this man the title of mujahid because he's a gaal don't seem to realize that the SNM struggle against Siyads forces wasn't a jihad in the religious sense of the term. It was a jihad stricly in the linguistic sense, meaning 'to struggle against', making snm members mujahids since they 'struggled/fought'. So if a gaal did indeed take part in the SNM mission during the eighties and early nineties, then he should be called a mujahid, just like how a secular minded isaaq would be given the title.

As for those who will counter that it was indeed a true jihad in the religious sense of the word because Siyaad Barre was a socialist gaal...well to them i'll say that they and everyone else knows that that's not the reason the SNM fought against the man and his regime.
