he did not say we got 13 million. And the name "Sheikh bashir airport" is not official one. In my opinion all Aviation funds should be contributed to Egal international. Somaliland needs only one major airport at the moment. We need to invest other transportation infrustructure. how come we have no bus stations? We need coach companies who pick people straight from Egal international to the regions.

Waar heedhe Yuusuf Niyaw horta ma dhaan dhaan baa Tahay? Hargeisa maxaa yaala? SOMALILAND Ma Jabuuti baad mooday wadan yar laba taako Ah? Gobolada bariga oo dhan airport iyo wado wanaagsan midna ma leh, dadkii dawga ayay ku madheen.

SOMALILAND way ka weyn tahay magaalo kaliya sxb, dadka iyo deegaanka Somaliland ba wuu badan yahay.

As for the $13m he didn't say but I know hawsha oo dhan baan la socdaa, qorshuhu waa $14m ilaa iminka $13m ayaa la hayaa saddex wiig ka dibna hawsha waa la baabayaa in shaa Allaah.

To do that you would need to be logical and economically sensible. Our current politicians are everything but that.

This little story of a $13mn airport in Burao is bullshit.

This...

SL needs only one main airport atm. Even the 86 million Ethiopia has one main airport and the second 1 is still next to the current--both in Addis.

It makes economical sense.

We should have little ones in Burao, Eri and Borama.

The Berbera 1 should be leased or used only for cargo (business cargo or bulk).

We seem to share a lot of philosophies & ideas. Unfortunate that you are pro-Ethiopian. You probably have an Ethiopian mother/wife/girlfriend, there is no other explanation for your obsession with the country.

P.S: When you relinquish your pro-Ethiopian tendencies, you will be welcomed into the Somali family. :)

Dumbest Idea I heard of.

SOMALILAND IS NOT A RECOGONIZED NATION WITH MONEY. WE LACK ROADS AND TRANSPORT INFRASTRUCTURE MAKING ONE AIRPORT A BAD IDEA.

You know how long it takes to get from Hargeisa to Ceerigabo and what not. Hargiesa can support the west and Burco the east for now.

Ethiopia has many airports

No, but if its only that much, then why not. Sooner or later it would need to be built. JSL is more than Hargeisa, hargiesa is not suitable for the capital. I say that as someone from hargeisa, born in hargeisa, family born in hargeisa. A city with water and food security is more suitable. There is a reason most capitals in the world are built on the banks of a river or on the coast.

Until we have roads and infrastucture to move cargo and people, airports and airstrips should be used.

The main priority should be roads, roads and more roads. Highway networks between regions are the biggest need.

Firstly, sxb you need to make your mind up, because what you have said doesnt add up. Either we need roads and we build them, or we need airports and we build them. We only have limited resources, so decide whether you are making the case for an airport, or for better road links and infrastructure.

To me the only highway construction project that even remotely makes sense is the Erigavo road, because it leads to a relatively large urban centre and the largest region in the North (Sanaag). All the other highways are perfectly adequate. They just need maintenance. There is also a good case to pave the major roads in each city, to enable intra-city and inter-regional commerce and transportation. These two kind of projects will add economic value, a small airport in Burao will add marginal economical value to the country.

How? I said both are needed at one point in time, but it's cheaper to build pave these airstrips than 100s of km of roads.

All good nations have adequite size of road/highway network.

Check the nations smaller than SL.
