The real problem is Somaliland's weakness, and Somaliland will remain weak unless it gets recognition.
I don't think Liyu police are allowed to operate in Siti/Shiniile region let alone harm civilians there, and I suspect the reason is Djibouti reaching a deal with the federal government. Ethiopia does not respect Somaliland the way it does that tiny country next door, and that is mainly because of our status.
We should all keep in mind that the incident happened inside the Ethiopian territory not in SL, these is no way Somaliland could interfere directly.
At the moment, as a clan, any serious escalation or conflict with Ethiopia or DDSI is not good for our wider interest, business or otherwise.
But a conflict with Somalia is not only necessary but vital if they are not willing to accept a referendum within two years to decide the union/separation issue. We should move earth and heavens to put SL in the UN. This Liyu problem and many other problems will disappear immediately if we achieve that.
