Postby JSLHistorian » Sat Sep 10, 2016 6:48 pm

1. Calamadaha district -
Positives - Lots of well built villas, hotels, shops, airport nearby
Negatives - Poor infrastructure, no single paved road at all

2. New Hargeisa district -
Positives - Some good roads, lots of villas, hotels, shops and easy access to restaurants
Negatives - High population density

3.Jigjgiyar district -
Positives - Good roads, big spaces, better urban planning, many restaurants and shops
Negatives -Not many mosques

4. Ahmed Dhagax district -
Positives - Unknown
Negatives - Too many poor people and thieves, burglary is common in this area

My reference is myself, I have been there. 26 June district is bit blurry since the suuq extends into it, I will come back to that
one.

Calaamadaha are my fav area with its mountaineous views and hill top villas.

The villas there are not only the best but they really stand out since they are on top of hills and mountains.

Roads are poor there because Somalis are not advanced enough to make roads or plumbing reach such hard and rocky places.

Still in my eyes it's the best of Hargeisa.

I have one map for hargeisa ,published in 1970 and based on hargeisa municipal info in 1959, very detailed and organised but its too large to fit in this mediocre 800pix snet , i dont know why those in the Hargeisa municipal or planning ministry dont make up a modern one showing all the new land marks and paved roads.

Calaamadaha indeed is the neighborhood with the most potential. Once the roads are fixed, everyone would love to
live on top of Masalaha hills in a villa.

I wouldn't say its villas are the best in Hargeisa, but the area is catching up, might as well add Masallaha hills too.
According to my opinion Jigjigayar still has the upper hand with Calamadaha /Masallaha hills as a second runner up.
Jigjigayar /Badacas is where all most of the establishement lives, even some Garhajis such as Cumar Aideed has his residence there.

Working class / Average Diaspora / Lower middleclass / Poor people

Goljano
Xero Awr
150ka
Baarlin
Madar
Qudacdheer

Establishment / Rich diaspora / Upper middle class
Jigjigayar
Calamadah / esp Star area hills
Masallaha
Badacas

If your family got a villa here, you're lucky, its only gonna get more exspensive
