WADANI central conference opens this morning

Postby JSLHistorian » Wed Oct 19, 2016 2:55 am

Who do you think will win between Axmed Muumiin Saed and Prof Mohamed Ali? Insider sources are saying Mohamed Ali is more likely
to win since his sub clan (Makahiil) make up 75% of Awdal.

That is according to figures their community posted in Oodweynenews.

They said the three most landheer sub clans in Awdal are all part of Makahiil.

Jibril Yoonis
Adan Yoonis
Nuur Yoonis (Reer Nuur)

I think their 75% estimation is close to the truth. Maxamed Case mainly live in Lughaya and Zeyla districts and we both know
those two districts (settled with Cisse) combined are nothing in comparison to Borama population.

JSL, from this source we can say the following.

Image
1890's source

Rer Makahil . 12,375
Jibril Yunus . 3,450
Adan Yunus . 2,590
Nur Yunus 9,940
Mahomed Asa . 9,320
Habr Affan 5,600
____________________
Total : 43, 275

Makahil in total is 28,355

So they make up around 66% or 65,5% , but that was more than a century ago.

RoobleWalid Thanks for the source interesting, You have to keep in mind during that time a lot of the Jibril Yunis and Adan Yunis
(Reer Harowo and Awbere) were in Ethiopia. Today they are the largest in Borama district. So indeed the article is right that the
Makahiil are the largest group in Awdal by a wide margin.
