Silanyo flies to Addis

President Silanyo, first lady, Muse Bihi and other officials left Hargeisa for Addis Ababa today.

Initial reports indicate the President will meet with the unpopular PM of Ethiopia, Ato Haile Mariam Desalegn.

The president will be in Ethiopia for few days.

Premier meets with Somaliland President



Addis Ababa October 29/2016 Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn has conferred today with a delegation led by a Somaliland President Ahmed Mohamed Mohamoud Silanyo on issues of bilateral relations and common interests.

The two leaders exchanged views on fostering their existing cooperation in trade, investment and economic development.

They have also discussed on ways of linking the two countries with infrastructure and developing Berbera port as Ethiopia has remained desirous to use the port to promote its foreign economic relations and trade.

They have also agreed to cooperate in ensuring peace and security in the region as well as fighting against terrorism.

The Somaliland President on his part confirmed that he discussed with Ethiopia's Premier on issues of mutual interest and vast areas of cooperation.

This meeting is related to the upcoming arrival of UAE officials discussing the Army and Naval base in Berbera. The Ethiopians are not happy that Egypt may have a hand in this since it was Egypt that sent similar delegation to Hargeisa earlier in the year. The Ethiopians want some assurance what this UAE base is about and Egypt's belly-dancing.
