First time I agree with Khalid Ali. If we're gonna be prostituting ourselves, why not do it for a superpower like Russia or China?

China is not gonna deal with SL. Not in a million years, for domestic political secession movements such as Taiwan/Tibet/Uyghurs.

Russia doesn't have a need for a military base in the Gulf of Berbera.

i know this is a Kulmiye policy i dont know what the benefit will be for Somaliland be for giving them an Army base starategic in Berbera First of all what are the consessions the Arabs are willing to make for Somaliland other than keeping the turks away and the Russians i dont have any love for the kebab loving Turks. their point is to control the red sea as they are willing to pay Isias afewerki of Eritrea to come to Assap as well. Our war is not with Houthis nor are we the enemies of the Ayatollahs of Iran. Somaliland should play its card well either bring a super power China or Russia and let the US next door be worried. Somaliland before anything else

This doesn't make any sense. You want us to turn down the base and the military and economic investment and co-operation. Just to please Iranians, Houthis and Ethiopians? First of all Ethiopia is no friend of Somaliland. Houthis don't represent a threat to Somaliland. Iran is a potential threat but we can put safeguards in place.

This is Somaliland's first real opportunity to become relevant in world affairs. This is what we have been waiting for the last 25 years. China and Russia are not interested in a military base in Somaliland, so don't delude yourself. Even if they were, giving China or Russia a base would put us on a collision course with USA, the most powerful country in the world, which would not end well for us.

UAE is just a front. There are bigger, much more important forces at play here.

I can understand the munaafiqnimo of corrupt politicians from South Somalia who oppose this base. They just want a bribe/payoff so they can keep quiet about it. Just like the Turkish airport in Mogadishu, Turkish military base in Mogadishu, countless AMISOM bases.

But I don't understand SLers who naively horumarka ka soo horjeeda, just to please raw meat eating injerleey. Opposing this base is absolutely self sabotage doqonimo. There is no real alternative anyway. It is absolutely naive to assume that suddenly Russia or China is gonna partner with SL, when they have ignored it for the past 25 years.
