Berbera's renaissance - new infrastructure

Postby Futurist » Sat Feb 18, 2017 3:59 pm

Berbera is experiencing a renaissance and it's time that it takes back the crown of port cities in the region. Berbera has something that Djibouti does not... its has the whole Somaliland hinterland and its population. It is the key to Somaliland's development. The most important infrastructure that Berbera needs now is a power plant. This can be solar, wind or coal - I don't care. Whatever is most effective and affordable. We can even start as low as a 50MW power plant. But access to cheap energy is key for everything else:

* Cheap air conditioning to make Berbera habitable.
* Berbera cement plants - for construction throughout the country and expanding the port.
* Berbera cooling and processing plants for the nascent fishing industry which can employ 1000's of people.
* Berbera light manufacturing plants, including frankincense processing.
* Berbera international airport
* Berbera livestock processing plants - fresh meat products can be in markets in UAE/Arabia/Asia within 3-4 hours.
* Paved roads to Hargeisa/Boorama and Burco/Las Anod/Erigavo.

We need to make Berbera the hub of a processing and export oriented economy. :whew: :blessed:
