Hargeisa had the chance to build a great city with city planning.

Sadly the look worse than Favela slums in Brazil.

Xamar was designed and expanded by the Italians till 1960. Hargaysa was not even the capital of British somaliland till the 1940s. Also xamar was further city planned by a successive Somali government for 31 years. Burco and berbera have better city planning then Hargaysa.

All in all without no government design or plan Hargaysa is still a massive city with a massive wealth.

The town planning will eventually work out just as European, Asian and other cities did.

It is a natural progress.

It is a natural market phenomenon.

actually hargeisa is improving allot in terms of building roads the road to the airport is totally finished now its smooth now we need to connect alll roads to boqoliyo kontonka and create another boqoliyo konton in new hargeisa because thats where u enter the city when coming from berbera and it has allot of space

city planning will go well suuqa hoose needs a little improvement the mayor needs to build the road behind the long madaxtooyada road. he needs 600.000 for that but it can be done. but there is allot of cash circulating in hargeysa. every one is building stores malls hotels factoties libraries universities clinics. ina aw siciid and omaar are building the 2 biggest buildings in down town. people say dahabshil bay ka hinaaseen and his damal building lol. omar building is under construction i show u some pics tomorow. and ina aw siciid building we have the design.. i think he is waiting when he launghes the so gasho 1000 tv channels project he wants to own the tv channel business.

people in h town are learning how to build nice buildings

hargeisa came froma long way respect to the iidoor nation we have put allot of effort in building hargeysa.

people.forget hargeysa was completly destroyed 25 years ago. we all build this with no support no turks no arabs. with the exception of the kuwaiti funded orphan school house everything else was made by iidoor

Building is a progress.

Slowly the town planning will improve. Rich guys and governments with much higher budget will buy out smaller guys as we have seen all around the world.

Eventually they will redevelop the space and improve their designs as standards and skills rise with rising incomes. That is natural.

Never the less it's best to start practicing now than await for the days the rich can buy out Shiraaqle market (bacadlaha) and re-develop it.

Hargeisa is still generating lots of wealth and that's a good thing.

Urban planning is improving but remains huge challenge due to the gap between peoples' wealth. There are those that can build 8 storey buildings and those that can't afford more than a plastic/aluminium or congregated tin hut.

The designs are getting better too. Rio is a blessing.
