Imagine if SL remained independent from 1960

Postby SuperLander » Sun Aug 19, 2018 12:34 pm

Instead of uniting with foolish Zoomalia next door, had Somaliland stayed independent until today I can say with total confidence that my country :sland: would have:
- one of the top ten economies in the whole African continent
- been among the top 5 in sub Saharan Africa for GDP per capita
- been in the pro west/ capitalist camp throughout the Cold War
- prevented both the 1977-78 Ogaden War and Somalia’s descent into state collapse/anarchy

etc etc

It would've been nice to avoid all the war and bloodshed and wasted time and energy on useless disastrous failed somali republic union but it's written for as to persevere through the struggle and rebuild a nation from scratch truly miraculous marvel alx

Somaliland would have been far better off than the south......mainly because the mentality is totally different.
Furthermore, the British governing system bequeathed to its former colonies has proved to be more successful than any other.
Taken together with the natural resources of s/l there was no reason an independent s/l couldn't be peaceful and prosperous.
Too bad they decided to join the south.....that's life I guess.

Life kind of sucks for the qurjiile.

Back in 1960 the qurjiile were against joining the South, Isaaq did not give a shit what the qurjiile wanted, told the leader of qurjiile to fuck off "laa yaa Garaad", and made the decision to unite with Somalia and form the Somali Republic.

In 1991 the qurjiile wanted to stay in the failed union, again Isaaq did not give a shit what their qurjiile minority wanted and made the decision to leave and took their minority qurjiile with them.

Qurjiile have absolutely no say in their future, destined to always be under Isaaq dominion

I heard qurjiile minority in 91 rushed to joined the redeclared Republic Somaliland to avoid the hawiye butcher onslaught on doofar living off xamar.

It wasn't until after 98 they flip flopped to be under naago rule until 2007 they flip flopped once again to be under somaliland until this present day.

Their leaders are actually on record saying they made their submission to Isaaq in Burco because they feared Isaaq will genocide them. Cali Bille Khalif was saying just that on Horn Cable TV. They are not even denying it

They really believed Isaaq will do to them what Hawiye did to other Doofaars in Xamar. They vacated Sanaag completely

At least I had a choice in the matter :)

In 1960 you were against Somaliland forming a union with Somalia, but Idoor did not give a shit about your opinion and made it happen anyway.

Again, in 1991, you were against Somaliland declaring independence and leaving the union, and just like 1960 your opinion did not matter, because Idoor still made it happen anyway and had your elders sign the dotted line.

Qurjiile just have no say in their future, they cant escape Idoor dominion Image

Poor dhulbahante they followed siyad barre to xamar and when he died hawiye hacked them all to death out of xamar hawiye had axe to grind with them then Dhulos murdered out of somalia peacefully decided to become part of abtiland/somaliland. Lol They suffer from stockholm syndrome lol longing for those that slaughtered them instead of those that offered them a safe return.

Actually Dhulbahante lost the least amount of people in the Xamar atrocities.
Far more Majerteen, Marehan and Ogaden (Hiraan) civilians were killed.

Most of the Dhullos military were left intact and were at the forefront of the counter attack to retake Xamar.
Unfortunately MJ rebel groups conspired with the USC and repulsed the counter attack.
After the USC consolidated their grip on Xamar they duly thanked the MJ civilians at their mercy. :som:

We would be a strong state inside east Africa like Kenya but I think let's not say if if our union with xamar was good some how we got to know w alabweyns my grandfaher went to xamar a year before independence to open a bussines on first of July street it' very good we learned walanweyn their culture tradtiins by interacting thars why we started our snm struggle in 1979
