Let’s copy Djibouti’s biethnic nation model

Postby SuperLander » Tue Aug 28, 2018 9:22 am

The Republic of Somaliland should embrace its ever increasing Oromo population and give full citizenship to the Muslim Oromos residing in SL for some time. It’s important that however Isaaq remains the absolute majority of the Somalilander population and the rulers come from Isaaq.
I propose that we also change both the country’s name and the national symbols (e.g flag, emblem) and drop Af Soomaali from being an official language

This can only strengthen our prospects for our country getting recognition from the international community

Your the first iidoor to think out of the box.
Dropping Somali from the name of the country would end the confusion with the south.
I would have gone with North East African Republic. :)

He is probably Oromo because the world will tell them to join Ethiopia since the Oromia is in Ethiopia. And Ethiopia will be more than happy to claim Berbera and annexes SL.

foolish girl I’m an ethnic Somali since I am Isaaq duh. I don’t want SL to unite with neither Ethiopia nor Somalia and I am content with independent Somaliland (ex British protectorate) being my country.

OD

that name is very unimaginative, Africa has more than enough countries with the nonsense to name itself after a particular part of the continent (South Africa and Central African Republic)

Guys the name “Somaliland” is an imperial era relic and can be likened to some sort of colonial theme park. We have to, once attaining sovereign recognition, remake the country in a new way how I outlined in my original post.

There is enough evidence to show that Somalis cannot have a country consisting of them only, hence why Somalis in Djibouti Kenya and Ethiopia are thriving compared to Somalis in Somaliland and especially Somalia
