I think we should develop a course for Somalis both back home and in the diaspora for etiquette and good manners. I was watching Chines tourist and how the world are sick and tired of chines rudeness and ill manners . Does having good manners depends on culture or educations> ? the excuse for most chines apologies is that Chines are uneducated this the bad manners.
In China certain chines dig their nose and eat their own snot or ear-wax ! they urinate and defecate in public even abroad airplanes , they wash their feet in public fountains , they take showers in Venice canals . They spit indoors , in restaurants , museums etc , even they scribe their graffiti in ancient monuments.
Somalis are :
1- loud , argumentative.
2- They talk over one another like women.
3- they smell of spices and shiisha ,specially women.
4- Their children are rowdy and ill mannered and loud.
5- They yap on the phone in public inconsiderate to others just for entertainment .
6- some use their hands to blow their nose and some make guttural sounds cleaning their throats ( Xaako) and spit or even swallow.
7- In their restaurant they eat using their hands licking their fingers , inconsiderate to others who might find that disgusting.
8- when talking they use exaggerated hand gestures .
9- in back home they abuse the use of car horns .
10- They eat with wide open mouth, like a cow.
11- using the public washroom wiping their ceeb with tissue around the urinals , i have seen this goat mullah doing that , and he also took a a Pepsi can filled with water to the washroom to wash his ass,the security thought he was using it to smoke crack/myth and he got pissed after they refused him the use of the can.
12- causally picking their nose in public with bare fingers and surveying the catch like a monkey before flinging it.
13- Deliberately praying where its impolite to pray and having to explain his religious duty to security .
14- doing ablution in public washrooms ,blowing their nose ,and washing their feet in the basin.
15- wearing strong somali perfume or scent ,specially somali women that will give others a headache . specially when they don't change their cloths and add more perfume to the already damp/stale before perfume producing a multi scent funky smell.
16- loitering around their restaurants using tooth-pick in uni-some after feeding like punch of hyenas.
17- clinging to their rudeness using religion and sunnah, like eating with their hands and keeping their unkempt long goatee grow wild , or wearing strong Islamic perfume ( cuud), shaving their mustaches and keeping the beards looking like the back side of a donkey .
18- House scent, as result of cooking and not opening windows or using uunsi and liberally so that the entire house plus cloths smell of food ,spices or uunsi/shiisha. This can be easily remedied by using 2 , $15 air filters in the house and opening the windows.
So , i have a thought should somali schools introduce an etiquette course and inoculate kids with good manners.
one of those bad etiquete include;
-Talking loudly in their native tongue amidst the foreigners
-Children running wildly in the stores/shopes while the parents do nothing
-Not mingling with their neighbors
