DISCUSSION -- OIL IN PUNTLAND!!

Postby Monk-of-Mogadishu » Sat Apr 05, 2008 3:59 pm

THIS TOPIC IS FOR THE DISCUSSION OF OIL IN PUNTLAND AND THAT ALONE!
------------------------------------------------
Africa Oil secured a rig contract with Singapore's Energi Tata Related Products Persada for the drilling of two wells, with a two well option, in February 2008. Drilling and more research will continue starting late Spring and Summer 2008.

http://www.geeskaafrika.com/somalia_22mar08.htm

The drill start date is scheduled for Aug 1 this year, although Range said it is confident drilling will begin before this date. Range Corp. and its farm in partner, Canada-based Africa Oil, issued a press release last month detailing drilling plans in Puntland, which the companies hope to begin by August.

Range Resources, an ASX and AIM-listed explorer, also released its first half results today, which showed pretax loss from continuing operations nearly doubled in the period to 8.3 mln aud from 4.2 mln aud a year ago.

In the second-half of 2008, the company said it plans to start a seismic programme in the northern Daror block, finalise a contract to commence an initial seismic program and mobilize a drill rig into Puntland to initiate more comprehensive mineral exploration activities by Range

We need a government that we can trust before we extract oil from our lands.

Monk,

The money is going to be split Cade, Gagaab and their crew. Even after Puntland was given a couple of 100,000s to built the Garowe airport, Gagaab ended up taking more than half of it.

I think Bosaso is the root cause of all problems in Puntland. All of the thugs, corrupt politicians, rebels, and all kinds of freaks live there. I swear, you never hear about any kind of filthy corrupt acts coming from other Puntland towns -- its ONLY Bosaso. The rest of Puntland is full of peace-loving nomads. Too much conflict and despicable acts happen there. It needs tougher Shariah laws or tougher clan policies. If anyone gets out of hand in Garowe or Galkacyo, balls get chopped off. People in Bosaso are WAY too soft on crime and don't understand old-school bashing.

Cadde muse is too corrupt, but I'm still hoping if there is oil found, he won't make puntland into mini nigeria where there is a rich elite and a lot of poor people.

puntland's safety should come first :!:

gemini

The basin are in bari and nugaal, and there is some overlap with sool and sanaag as the maps show.
Here is another map. At this point, the drilling will continue and I don't think anyone is gonna stip muse from getting he's money not even the TFG. If there is oil and this is handled correctly with competent leaders, we can truly be the next dubai.
