GAROWE, Somalia Apr 27 (Garowe Online) - The president of Somalia's Puntland region has appointed a new police commander for the regional authority, Radio Garowe reports.
Col. Muse Joqrafi, new police chief of Puntland
A decree dated Apr 25 and issued from the Office of Puntland President Abdirahman Mohamed "Farole" officially named Col. Muse "Joqrafi" Ahmed as the new police chief of Puntland.
The same decree also appointed Col. Osman Hassan "Afdalow" as the police commander of Bari region, where the commercial port city of Bossaso is located.
Puntland's former police commander, Gen. Gani Mohamed Abdi, was wounded by suspected insurgents in Sept. 2008 and has not served as police chief since.
President Farole, who was elected in Jan. 2009, has made improving security the number one priority of the Puntland administration.
