They are one of the many deviated sects in islaam, they came with alot of bidciyaat (innovations) like asking the deceased for rain or children and dancing whilst reciting the quran. They even affirm to their shaykhs divine attributes like knowing what happens tomorrow
We ask allaah to protect us from them.

As or the name sufi, then it comes from the word suuf (woollen). because the ones who started it used to wear woollen clothes.BUT in that time there was also some, very good shaykhs, who use to wear woollen clothes but they weren't suufi's, they used to wear that kind of clothes because they didn't have enough money and they were abstinence (zuhd in arabic) regarding the world.

1) not all somalis were suufis before the 70s, maybe yours, but not mine 8-) 2) we have to respect for our ancestors even if they were wrong? please!!! 3) dirki its self is not haraam but its the content of the dikr that makes haraam. asking your dead fore fathers for rain, children and wealth is haraam! PERIOD!!!!

Sxb Its true sheikh cali majeerteen kaliya maahe, The whole kingdom of Majeerteenia ruled by boqor cisman were Wahabists. Because wagaa xoolo baa loo dhoofin jirey sucuudiga. Infact Sayid himself in of his poems called boqor cisman "awalbuu wahaabi iyo ahaa walad najaasadee" thinking it was a derogatory name LOOOl

it is not that i am disrespecting our forefathers but i was just pointing about what the kind of bidciyaat and shirk they practice.
And bicir is right, one of the reasons the sayyidka was fighting the majerteen was they disliked the suufi's and the suufi was a suufi!

As for thet term wahhaabi or wahhaabiyyah that is a great fault!!! because one of the 99 names of allaah is al-wahhaab (The Giver). So is not allowed to use that name as curse or to disgraise some people.
