I think Puntland has gone the wrong path. They could have used TFG for more than its worth. TFG has connection to foreign countries which are willingly to aid Somalia with money; Puntland could have been able to access this much needed cash.

Puntland has come out worse in his saga. Faroole has looked childish and Puntland seem uncooperative for no reason.

I don't understand why Puntland is trying to isolate Puntland for in a hostile region

that's the thing, the tfg is supposed to be a government representing and acting on behalf of somalia so any funding or aid that they receive is not for mogadishu but for all of somalia.

puntland outlined its reasons for cutting ties with the tfg in their press release and one of their reasons was that they felt marginalized 'from the international community’s initiatives and funding intended for the reconstruction and development of Somalia as a whole' & they want any aid/funding intended for puntland to be given to them directly and not filtered through the corrupt tfg.
- Requests the international community not to endorse or cooperate with the TFG as a legitimate representative of Puntland;
- Proclaims that Puntland shall not cooperate with the TFG until a legitimate and representative Federal Government is established and agreed upon by the legitimate stakeholders in Somalia ;
- Declares that the TFG does not represent Puntland in international forums and calls upon the UN Political Office for Somalia (UNPOS) to reconsider its position and support for the TFG at the expense of other Somali stakeholders;
- Welcomes , supports and endorses the new U.S. Dual-Track Policy which is based on realities on the ground in Somalia ;
- Remains fully committed to deal separately with the international community on reconstruction, development and reconciliation matters for Somalia , namely: the Inter-Governmental Authority on Development (IGAD), the African Union, the League of Arab States, the Organization of Islamic Conference, the European Union, the United States , and all donor communities-at-large;

so in my opinion, puntland has not lost anything by cutting ties with the tfg, if anything this damages the tfgs legitimacy as the government of somalia because now they control less than 4 kms of land.

so when its a Majeerteen president Puntland is represented, when its Hawiyo president Puntland is not represented ? this is pure tribal nonesense, the TFG works in turns and just like Abdullahi Yusuf represented the nation so will Sh Shariif and the Prime minister Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo.

your comment would have made sense if puntland cut off ties with the tfg when sheekh turncoat was named the president, but they didn't. they gave him a chance and now it's been 2 years and what has he accomplished other than accrue frequent flyer miles?

earth to ibrahimcw: sheekh turncoat's "government" controls less than 1% of the country. in my world people like him are called city councillors, not presidents.

gemini_snake, truth is your kryptonite.

let me remind you that Sharif after he was elected gave the Prime minister position to a Majeerteen, when he resigned Sharif gave the current Prime minister Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo the position. This is when Majeerteen was out of the political arena for the first time since 1991 and all hell broke lose right, it got worse when PM Farmaajo elected a "real" representative of Dhulbahante and an educated one at that as one of his ministers. Faroole finally hit boiling point and announced Puntland secession from Somalia and hurled insults at the Prime minister of Somalia.

everyone knew the greed of garowe before hand but damn, they did not hesitate one bit to to prove us right. :lol:

greed, piracy, money laundering and now secession

like sheekh farax zero said, all you seem to be focused on is farmaajo. i bet you probably didn't give a shit about the tfg until he was appointed so let me get you up to speed: puntland & the tfgs relationship was sour way before farmaajo came into the picture. maybe you were in a coma the whole time and woke up when an mx was made pm, but this has nothing to do with mr.cheese.

btw, as you can tell from my avatar i am a big supporter of the pirates. other than al-shabaab they are the only multi-qabil organization in somalia, plus they're making bank so stop knockin their hustle. :mrgreen:

GS, incase you didnt notice, Faroole attacked Farmaajo and not Sharif, Faroole declared his secession when Farmaajo came into the picture and not days, weeks, months or year before whiles Sharif was in office. this is hopeless i tell you, try not to delude yourself here.

Faroolaha huffing and puffing has everything to do with.... A. Prime minister Farmaajo, B.Dr. Abdikarim Jama C. No Majeerteen in TFG.

Ibrahim, Faroole hate other Darood subclans, that is why Faroole is against Dhulbahante, Warsangali, Ogaden abd Mareexaan politicians in TFG. At the same Faroole, Faroole supports Majeerteen politicians in TFG like the current MJ minister in the TFG or the former PM Omar Abdurashiid sharmarke, Faroole is qabiilist #1.
