Property boom in Eyl - but Why?

Postby Monk-of-Mogadishu » Fri Nov 04, 2011 3:04 pm

Lots of Reer Mahad have been purchasing property in Eyl. This all started a few months ago when the mayor fought back and ended piracy. This sparked the EU to give him millions in grant money to develop infrastructure. This boom spurred a lot of Mahads to head up and buy property there. Perhaps this also has to do with a future oil pipeline that will end at a harbor in Eyl.

On a side note, in the early 90s when the Americans were docking at Bosaso, they traveled through Eyl and stopped, camped/fished for the night. They asked the local chiefs, "Why are people fighting over Mogadishu when you can have this view?" As you all know, Eyl has good elevation, gets a high amount of water runoff, and enjoys great weather and breeze - people are killing to own houses in Eyl today because they want their villas up on the hills.

Discuss this future boom town, I know Tightrope is crazy about Eyl.

YOU JUST ANSWERED YOUR OWN QUESTION! THE REAL QUESTON IS WHY REER MAHAD ARE GENIUSES. 8-) just kiddin
IF CALUULA WASN'T SO FAR AND ISOLATE FROM THE REST OF PUNTLAND/SOMALIA, SOMALIS WOULD BE BUYING UP PROPERTIES THERE AS WELL. CALUULA IS THE EYL OF GULF, AND EYL IS THE CALUULA OF THE INDIAN OCEAN!

monk we are investing quickly before the "gaalo gudan's" notice the value of Eyl
on a serious note reer mahad's have leftover funds because because the situation in Galkayo
and are making the most of it by investing elsewhere like we did in Garowe in the early 2000's
while the rest of tolka were busy investing in Bosaso  most of the reer mahad's investing in
Eyl are the Nugaal reer mahad's who see the value of Eyl and surrounding area's which are rich
in water, farmlands, grazing lands and fish with a mild weather..it's a better investment than
Garowe or Galkayo 8-)
