I remember this being posted all over the web a few months ago, and of course I just passed it off as a wild fantasy. Then this whole oil thing comes up, and all of a sudden it becomes plausible within the grand scheme of things. The town of Gumbax lies between Hurdiyo and Bargaal, and despite being within proximity to the coast, there appears to be no fishing activity in the town, and in general it lies further from the shore than any coastal town in Puntland. To the north is Bargaal, which is an aggressive fishing community that hugs the coast, and its the same thing to the south in Hurdiyo which is even closer to the coast and with a larger fishing fleet. Gumbax is perfect, and like Eyl and Caluula it has some numerous seasonal riverbeds that flow all around it, and this usually means there's easy and shallow water trapped right beneath the soil. The town also has some oceanic enclaves on its shore that add scenic value. Its common knowledge that the Indian ocean coast of Puntland has much more temperate weather than the miserable Gulf of Aden coast, so perhaps this Gumbax town is supposed to serve as a possible end route for a pipeline in the works, and the town itself to serve as some kind of attractive and livable environment for valuable foreign employees. Most important of all, Gumbax is in Iskushuban district - the fricking key district of the Dharoor valley, in fact the Dharoor is practically exclusive to Iskushuban district and lies just a few minutes drive south of Ufeyn, which is the epicenter of the entire oil exploration in Dharoor. Add it all up and this becomes very, very likely in the coming years. Perhaps not as grand as the 'concept' but its not hard to see a modern work town developing in the area of Gumbax.
