I personally think that the people of Puntland will not turn to violence against one another. What will more then likely happen is that after January 8, 2013, they'll be elections held outside of Garowe and someone else will be named President. Thus, you will have Farole saying he is the president and then the other chosen leader saying he is.
The question is how will revenue from the commercial capital of Bosasso be distributed?
What I don't understand is that if Farole is so respected and his constitution passed with an unheard of 98% approval rating, then why doesn't he hold elections on time, (since he is so popular) and come back for another legitimate 4 years? But why add another year?
Listen:
General Samatar seems to have a gloomier outlook on things.
