Puntland State of Somalia
PRESS RELEASE
2 July 2012
Following the killing of a Kenyan driver, and the kidnapping of four aid workers in Dadaab refugee camp in Kenya on 29 June 2012, and the subsequent terrorist bombings on 1 July 2012 in two churches in Garissa, Puntland Government condemns these heinous bombings and attacks on civilians and aid workers
Puntland Government sends its condolences the families of the victims and to the Government and people of Kenya and we believe that these attacks aim to disrupt the delivery of humanitarian assistance to the needy refugees in the camps and to incite religious conflict among Kenya’s multi-religious and multiethnic communities
We call upon the Kenyan people to refrain from being dragged into conflict among their own communities, and to show tolerance and patience, as the terrorist perpetrators want to provoke confrontation and revenge attacks amongst people of different faiths
Finally, we urge the Kenyan Government to exercise restraint and continue to support the Somali people in their efforts to liberate regions under the control of terrorists, to restore law and order and to stabilize the region.
