Insha'allah, Somalia has a lot of ingenious entrepreneurs, they just need security and low taxes. Can you imagine the possibilities if the State had better infrastructure?
When Bosaso Airport is modernised, we can stop asking for International loans and aid. Self-suffiency is the future. :stylin:

Frankincense , Myrrh & Gum Arabic Industry

Puntland is the land of Frankincense and Myrrh hence the name "Dal Udug" = "The Fragrant land".

-Puntland is one of the world’s largest producers of high quality frankincense the two varieties are Boswellia Carteri (Somali name Beyo for the gum and Mohor for the tree).and Boswellia Frerean (Somali names; Maydi, for the gum and Yagar for the tree) frankincense gum.

-Legend has it that it was from this land that the Three Wise Men set out with gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh for the infant Jesus.

-The frankincense in Puntland are individually owned through family inheritance and the owners either rent it to poor pastoralist collectors or take share of the proceeds or allow the collector a free access

-In this production sector, there is no organized formal labour market in Puntland. However, production systems exist as under: -Members of the plantation (owning family) who cultivate and harvest on a rotating basis (GAAFEYSI) and, Individuals who pay rent (CAWAAJI) to the owning family and collect the production for the entire season.
