The Chinese have won the contract, and are promising to complete the runway by early next year.
The company that won the contract is China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC),
the same company that is building the Ethiopia-Djibouti railway.
Construction will be starting in September, and is expected to end in March. Only a runway is needed, the terminal is already built.
It will be a code 4C runway, which will allow large jets to land in Bosaso.
It will also save us the embarrassment of going to Mogadishu or Hargeisa, and then taking a connecting flight
All in all, Bosaso is set for some serious growth in the coming years.
The funding of the Garowe airport is already secure, and a tender process will begin soon.
