Voltage,

The experience gained can be put to good use. I am delighted by the fact that majority of the Somali youth in Minnesota are dynamic and engage the political system to their advantage.

Give them more time. They will be a force to reckon with

More or less, they already do. Who do you think is coming to these "puntland" "somaliland" and "Somalia" parties?

Except for Somaliland, I thought all Somalis generally go to each other's meetings? In the Puntland one I remember reading there were speaking representatives of prominent members of Hawiye, Digile Mirifle, and Reer Xamar groups.

And if they meet with you guys on clan basis, that is sad walle iyo bille

It is for decoration purposes that doesn't hide the underlying basis/motif of these meetings.

I really don't think it is as bad as people make it out to be. The Puntlanders have interest that is unique to them, so do Hawiye and Isaaq. It would be impractical to ignore the legitimate interests of those groups and pigeonhole into some ambiguous term called "Somali"

LOL @ decoration purposes   Horta Somalis are the most peculiar people in this, can you imagine a Huti and Tutsi oo isku dhoola cadaynayo everywhere else opening meetings for each other and stuff while their country was torn apart by thier conflict? Or a Serb and a Bosnian? Makes no sense it shows just how much of a nation we are in the real sense but how difficulte tribal politics can be

The clan in Somalia serves the same purpose as the ethnic group in Africa and Asia. The sooner people forget about feelings and "common bond" that are seriously opaque and misleading, the better for Somalia. All clans/subclans in Somalia have their own distinct interests and aspirations, to juxtapose those legitimate interests into a supposed religious and national commonality is dangerous and counterproductive.

What exactly are you saying? Somalia should divide into mini bantustans?

And I am glad you realize what I have been saying. I see no hope for non-Islamic ruled Somalia with the level of clan politics and the "ina adeer culture". They need a theocratic autocracy which is the only thing that can overpower the clan power. Corruption in a non-Islamic system is inherently rooted in Somali culture because it is the NORM to be partial to your clan.

I believe that federalism is the best thing for the Somali people if we are to survive as a nation in the community of nations.

It is utterly stupid to say that the only system that can work in Somalia is tyranny whether it manifests itself as communist/socialist or in religious manifestations.

The Somali people are capable of embracing democracy and egalitarian system of governance where peoples' rights and freedom are respected.

Somalia during the 60s and today's Puntland and Somaliland, albeit not truly democratic, are case in points.
