My awowe was born in Hobyo. My father was born there. My family owns houses there so why would I not celebrate my ancestral town.

Hobyo was just a victim of the 1969 revolution that saw it become economically strangled. The so called Port of Bosaso was to have been built in Hobyo so as to become the corridor to exporting livestock from the Mudug, Galgaduud, Shabelles and Hiiraan. Siyaad's appeasement and reapproachment to the Majeerten made him award the port to Bosaso which is further away from the livestock markets of Central Somalia.
