Barre's regime exposed

Postby Somaliweyn » Wed Jul 25, 2007 7:10 am

The Barre remnants are these days on a mission to paint the legacy of their hero positive.

The tactics they use:

-derogative biased picture of the civilian government of 1960-1969 combined with the great harmonic period that followed when Barre seized power. They paint only a negative picture of this period, using Siad Barre's propaganda in the first years of his coup as justification for the coup.

Example:

Maxamed Siad Barre’s explanation for the coup:

''Intervention by the Armed Forces was inevitable. It was no longer possible
to ignore the evil things like corruption, bribery, nepotism, theft of public
funds, injustice and disrespect to our religion and the laws of the country.
The laws were thrust aside and people did whatever they wanted.''

- The other tactic is a derogative biased picture of post-1991 combined with how great Siad Barre's era was.

In these Propaganda tactics they avoid any serious discussion about the different periods in Somali history according to their own merit. Thus first a historical objective investigation into the period 1960-1969, then that of Barre's 21 years rule then finally the post-1991.

The reason why they started this campaign: to seduce Patriots who are in utter shock to watch the painfull situation of the occupation to accept Siad Barre as a glorious leader who saved the nation, and thus should be commerated by singing together: Aabe Siyaad ha noolado Laughing

Well, this patriot isn't falling for this cheap Propaganda, Siad Barre's oppressive 21 years rule will be remember as a dark period followed by blood period after 1991.

Exactly what they hoped to avoid and us to ignore is now done Laughing

An objective analysis of Barre's period preceded first by that of the civilian government.
You can find the results of this enlightening exposure in the section General: Current Events.
