Who Supports Who in Somalia.

Postby Lacageylacag » Tue Apr 08, 2008 2:27 pm

In an exit polls, Somalis saying they hated the Islamic courts Union were likelier to be from both North and south and rural areas, less educated, lower earning and older. That's not consistent with anti-Ethiopian fight so far, in which ICU has done better among Southern Somalis with more education, more islamic and higher incomes, both men and women.
This is because Ethiopians are not present in the North and East of the country.

Somalinet is one source. Numerous polls conducted on Somalinet support Lacageylacag's contention that the ICU enjoys overwhelming support and trust from majority of Somalis, especially the educated, those with higher incomes, the conservatives and others. Allahu Akbar.

How about NY Times, Washingtonpost and other leading newspapers? Those newspapers wrote the ICU is popular and enjoys overwhelming support from Somalis.

You talking about the six month honeymoon for the ICU. What you are forgetting is that their populist support started to wind down as they expanded militarily and banned Khat as a main source of income for working families., Music, Sports. They used to arbitrarily fire innocent crowds.

The Press refers to this honeymoon, not afterwards.
