Who is the Gidir in "Habar Gidir"

Postby James Dahl » Sat Oct 11, 2008 12:10 am

Habar Gidir all trace to Madarkicis Hiraab, but who is the Gidir in Habar Gidir? Is it Madarkicis' wife or mother? What clan was she from if so?

Son_of_Somalia,

You need to learn alot bro.

When you are engaged in struggle you should always be paranoid when it comes to strange things.

For example, Somalia is now engaged in a struggle were the West financed a multi-million invasion and occupation of Somalia by Ethiopia. A struggle in which the West is determined to defeat the Islamic movement in a clan-structured Somalia.

Somalinet is a tiny replicate of what happens in Somalia, we got our Islamic movement supporters amid a clan-structured Somali forum, were clan always infiltrates in every freaki.ng topic even if the topic is about ''whats your facorite color''.

Then you got a White atheist from Canada who is collecting INFORMATION about Somali clans and is working out a framework to see what clans are connected, where their loyalties may lie or shift to, were they live, who they are etc etc.

Now ask yourself these simple questions:

-Why is this White young man from Canada interested in such a bizarre topic as clannism.
-Why does he invest such a huge ammount of effort and time in mapping out clans, their history and geography.
-How does he finance this project? We all know the website costs some amount of money on a year basis, and we all know he makes some costs in finding and reading the literature about Somalis.

The final question:

-The purpose of his intelligence gathering?
-To what organisation does he work and will he eventually deliver the information to?

Dont be surprised when the West will use his intelligence gathering against us and to undermine whatever Somali movement arises that wants to eradicate the nr1 evil that has kept us away from progress: clannism.

I can't believe I am the subject of a conspiracy theory. I guess I should feel flattered.
Anywhere else in the world this is what's called historical research, but in Somalia it's apparently espionage to some people.

What does it matter what I was raised as? I had no control over what my parents decided to do.

Madarkicis son of Hiraab, who was the father of the sub clans known as the Habar Gidir clan today, Sa'ad, Suleman, Saruur, and Mohamed (nick named Eyr) had a wife called "Gidir" who is the mother of 2 of his ofsprings (Sa'ad the elder and Suleman the younger) and the step mom of Ceyr (eldest of Madarkicis' 4 sons) and Saruur who's mother had died from another marriage. Madarkicis brought his 2 orphaned sons from his other wife to the Gidir house hold to be cared for and raised by her as she would with her own. She is even said to have breast fed them like her own.

Madarkicis loved Gidir and blessed her so that his family and sons might inherit her name. And that is how now his lineage is more widely know as Habar Gidir. "Habar" meaning in Somali as an elder lady or elderly women of the house hold. Also Madarkicis' younger brother Maxamud son of Hiraab (nick named Duduble) who lived and was closely associated with the Madarkicis family house hold is sometimes grouped with his nephews clan name of Habar Gidir, even though he is their uncle in reality.

Hopefully now you know :)

Gidir is derived from the somali word DIGIR meaning "beans". beans, known as cambuulo in somali, is the pride and joy of hawiye cooking. and the reason why hutus fart 3755/day.
