^I get that feeling from all early civil war era articles on Somalia.

I think the reason is really simple. Western hypocrisy (while ignoring their leadership like Bush killing millions of Iraqis) like to try to take japs at other leaderships and especially if it was a political situation such as Somalia and in the African continent. This means the whole government and its supporters (ironically the tribe/clan) is painted with a bad stroke and criticized in an unwarranted manner.

With that said, Mareexaan is today the Majority in Kismaayo but we want nothing but peace and prosperity and freedom and good governance for all its inhabitants.

the last part of the article made me understand why beesha absame has been sleeping for so long.
morgan is running kismayo with the help of foreighners yet he is protected in dhobleey by maxamed subeer while jess is disowned by his tol.


Interpretations of the events that enabled Morgan to capture Kismayo vary. The USC/SNA alliance believe that the Belgian UNOSOM forces are not impartial, and Morgan's soldiers were allowed into Kismayo. Some Harti believe that UNOSOM allowed Morgan to re-enter Kismayo, because 'they view it as a Harti town'. This is despite the fact that, when US forces first arrived in Somalia, US Ambassador Oakley refused to meet the 'cold-blooded murderer' Morgan. The other interpretation is that UNOSOM Belgian troops were outwitted by Morgan. Whatever the truth, the SNA/USC supporters remain extremely bitter. Their cynicism is increased by the fact that since February 1993 the US and Belgian troops have twice repulsed attacks by Jess fighters on Kismayo.

Since March, therefore, Kismayo has nominally been under the control of an alliance of SPM/SNF/SSDF forces (in Kismayo known as the SPM), under the overall command of Morgan. Nominally, because Morgan himself has not returned to Kismayo and remains in Doble, and also, because his supporters have no visible military presence on the streets of Kismayo. The rise of Morgan, as the 'champion of the Darod', seems to have sidelined Gabiyo, although he was one of the 15 signatories of the Addis Ababa agreement.

That article says SPM was part of the rebels who overthrew Siad Barre but got the shaft from Caydiid when he turned on them and defeated them, even capturing Kismaayo and that Morgan with Marehan came back down.

The article then says about the second attempt in Kismaayo held by Jess, that Morgan got to Dhoobley with Marehan support and would have taken Kismaayo but he was defeated by the American military.

It then says he in the end defeated Jess and ruled Kismaayo with Marehan support (the governor he appointed for Kismaayo was ironically Marehan, Abdullahi Wagat), after Jess had killed massacred 100 Harti intellectuals. But that some of the Ogaden claim he won with Belgian/Unitaf support even though he was prevented by the Unitaf soldiers many times and was considered a blood warlord by them.

Wallahi this always shocks me. Even Caydiid never did what Jess did. In war when you have high on drug militias is one thing, but to go house to house in one night and execute, massacre over a hundred intellectuals such as doctors,etc just because they are Harti which is what Jess did and you support him always amazes me. Ina-Aaboow reading writings like this brings back bad memories of how our people were divided and we let our leaders down. We lost Baardheere by not supporting our Cawlayah brothers and now Kismaayo is in question. Cajiib; read this

At that time Bardheere was divided between the Awlihan on the west bank and the Rahanweyne on the east bank. (Gabiyo's subclan, Rer Ali/Awlihan, is from Bardheere.) The dam was never built, because of the war. The project would have reduced the available grazing lands and thus increased land values and competition between the Ogadenis and Marehan.
