When we were Kings/Somalia 1969-1990

Postby Cawar » Tue Mar 31, 2009 9:10 pm

The best we have had since dowladnimo/nationhood was born in Somalia.. I am gonna present to you few facts and perhaps..dare I say..even school some of you kids about what we had..and what we are left with right now..all because of few power hungry , morally corrupt and crazy men..who caused their own qabils more unnecessary deaths and harm..just to be in MSB's seat..

Yes I am talking about the Kacaankii Barakaysnaa.. no matter how one feels about the late Siad AUN.. we were kings..
I call it ..

I can write 100s of articles about it and how life was good for 90% of somalis..not to mention our collective sharaf..but i will just stick with few basic facts..

Most of you kids have not even had the luck to have lived in a peaceful somalia.. or lived as teens let alone adults..
Yes many ppl feel negative towards the regime, yes some qabils were mistreated, yes there was some nepotism..and all the things you can pinpoint negatively about the regime..

But few historical fact no one can deny are these..as to what happened and how things changed.

First, The Mjs were the first to rebel.. because they wanted the power.. yes the suffered some punishment afterwards..but more rewards even after that.. always maintaining at least 6 cabinet positions in the government..and many other favors I can list if any of you want.

Next, Isaaqs tried the same.. mind you they always enjoyed as much if not more than the MJs.. 6 cabinet positions plus few commanders in the army/police..
So when they thought it was their turn..they rebelled because of hunger for power..

Finally, the Hawiye..and only after having enriched themselves to the teeth and bone..did they think of taking over ..and thought it was their turn..
We all know the same men who financed the USC are the same who use to call MSB aabo siyaad..and collected most of the bettings/Gov. contracts. For free mind you...from 80s till 90..and became millionaires..again only to come back and oppose him..in hope of sitting in his seat.

Anyone/kid(most of you are..and only go by what your parents tell you) who can deny these facts..and think these qabils..lead by power hungry men who exploited their fellow kinsmen just to get to power..rebelled because of injustice and what have you..is either lying or in denial..

In conclusion.. he was a patriot..and a power hungry patriot for that..but he deserved to stay in power as long as he could..esp. when you compare him with whats left of somalia and somalis..after his departure.

PS. I have not even mentioned what good he has done for Somalia..or what we achived as a country..during his rule..of course with major set backs..just like every poor and African counrty would suffer .

RIP. Maj Gen.. Great hero MSB..

I always find the most honest people are the young ciyaalka xaafada who grew up in Somalia and in the West and know what it is like to have lived in their own country. And they are almost always pro-government.

Cawar, Sir Lugooyo, Koronto, Kambuli, Sakhraan, etc.

Good people.

Everyone who saw Somalia before the civil war wishes they could have it back.

Hell even Abdullahi Yusuf said it

Yes, I know. Dhawr jeer buu ku celceliyay.

Where is Cali Mahdi today? In the cold in Minnesota. How does he feel today when he sees where ambitious greed left his country and capital?

Some ppl think getting educated in the west is the ultimate price an entire nation can achieve..

What they dont know is..at what cost?? how many teens are being killed each year? how many end up in jail??
How many young girls are taken advantage of everyday??
Who many end up drunkards and Crackheads??
How many lose their religion and at best become never practicing muslims.. or even mock their fellow muslism and Islam for backwardness ??
I cant go on any longer you guys can add some more..as I am getting emotional by mentioning this..an entire nation lost in memories and no light at the end of the tunnel to be seen..

I just wanted to say..that we had Engineers, Doctors, Lawyers and educated men and women of every field being sent to different countries during that same period and before..and always came back to repay and rebuild their nation.

It is focked up. During school breaks I've worked next to Agricultural engineers, economists, diplomats, army officer who all could be doing something for their country right now but can't do anything.

Million refugees, 100 thousands dead, a country living on food aid, and what's left of the country dying in the oceans trying to escape that hell.

1969-76 was the pinnacle of Somali nationhood. everything since '77 has been unmitigated disaster. but the success of 1969-76 was to a certain extent implanted in the disorderly democratic days in 1960-69. so, objectively speaking Somalia's heydays were 1960-76.

Cawar

There is no denying some places were better of in the 1969-1990 era but I would choose anarchy over tyranny any day.
Lets not dwell on what could have been, we are here today and history has taught us well.

Why are you a refuge in the midwestern U.S instead of some of those better off places?
