If only Siyad Barre did this

Postby Captain24 » Tue May 12, 2009 10:32 pm

In June 1990, a hundred prominent citizens signed a declaration called the Mogadishu Manifesto, calling for his resignation and the appointment of a transitional government pending free elections.

He called the manifesto "destructive," and jailed 45 of those who had signed it, but about a month later he ordered their release. He agreed to multi-party parliamentary elections to be scheduled in February but later canceled them and the civil war took its course.

If he had done that, you think It would have been different?

Waryaa, this is by no means an attack on Siyad Barre, just contemplating of what may have happened had he accepted that 'Mogadishu manifisto'

Because your speculation is stupid. Anybody who knows Somali would not ask such a stupid question.

Menguste Haile Mariam and Siad Barre were both violently overthrown in 1991. Why is Somalia eating poop today and Ethiopia controls us?

Also, Siad Barre is famously recorded for having said "I am not the president of Somalia, but the guardian of Lazareeti (Somalia's mental asylum)". He was apt describing the primitive people who were his subjects and what they could be capable of if he did not keep them in check.

Here is a CIA report from the same time, exact day as the 1969 Coup. Read what the C.I.A was writing about Somalis and some people like to revise history today and cry and said "oh Siad Barre baa isku keen diray, Siad Barre armed others against each other, we were peachy united people" blah blah blah

That's all good and dandy, but how it's relevant to this? We can only speculate, but the fact remains that that was a golden chance to transfer the power peacefully

Here is the link from the United States Department of State. It was just declassified. Not only in 1969 but on the day of the coup.

It is the SOMALI PEOPLE that are the problem. Illiterate, ignorant, primitive stone-age barbarians that can never function in modern life.

The Gaal did not prophesize sxb, he just wrote what he OBSERVED. Pretty much we never changed. The Somalis of 1996 and 2005, basically CIVIL WAR SOMALIS are no different than the Somalis pre-1969. It is just in the civil war we are in our base element and people like Siad Barre by saying he is the "guardian of Lazareeti" was protecting us from our own evils.

Now who is going to say nin Soomaalida yaqaan ma ahayn?

More and more I see the real curse is qabiil.
