i think few people had any problems with the islamic court unions..

they were naive and ignorant but most somalis believed they were sincere..

even in somaliland they had support of the average person on the street..

the alshabab are a mutant form, a very different breed.

alshabaab was the crazy wing of icu. You know in 2006 everytime a group of alshabaabfighters walked in street, the people were scared to death because they knew shabaab will not tolerate jokes.

Many ppl try to use the islamist movement for hawiyinimo and other clan interest but alshabab outsmarted them all. Most of them are either dead or sleeping with ugandan bodyguards in their bedrooms. The former "Mujahideen" now wear suits, trimmed their beardos and they would go as far as giving mrs clinton a little kiss on the cheek. ilen bahashu awalba adunyo iyo qabil bey ka aheyd.

The islamic courts included every islamic sect from Al-sunnah wajamah to say the more radical al-shbaab. It also included businman, lawyers, civil servants, doctors, lecturers, the average somali from all sorts of clans. It worked, it was accepte by the majority and even in Mogadishu. Village after village and tow after town joined the islamic courts by opening their own court in their own village and declaring to be part of the Org.

The problem we hve today is that khawrij Al-shabaab after realising that their voice was not that strong within the courts decided to break away. Killing other islamist and even murdering islamic court sheikhs and commaders. They hve declared jihad on their own people, they people they were meant to honour and protect, they now Murder
