Al-Shabab are "true believers" who would "never sell out" which means three things:

1) They are incapable of meeting anyone half-way and will insist on 100% of their demands or nothing, so there will never be peace no matter how many people they behead or behand.

2) They are all 100% sure they are right, so when disagreements crop up amongst themselves they will not be able to compromise (see #1) and forever split and divide and factionalize (see Khawarij)

3) They see their enemies as completely without human worth and any power sharing with them as defeat, and so even if they were offered a large chunk of power, even a controlling share, they would refuse.

For these three reasons al-Shabab will never attain power, and even if they did they would not hold it.

If Al-Shabaabs wins, do they even have the abiilies to govern, legislate and rebuild Somalia. Will they be able to train doctors, teachers and lawyers? What are their skills? Do they believe in forgiveness or will they want to execute everyone who had an issue with them some time ago?

How do the Al-Shabaabs rationalise attacking Somaliland and Puntland if these regions aren't threatening to them and are full of Muslim Somalis just like them? Does not believing in the Al-Shabaabs makes someone kaffir? What is the point in the Islamic law that says you can do it? How are the planning to do it? By posing bombs or going there or sending troups?

The US support for any viable Somali-State in anywhere around the horn of Africa is questionable let alone Somaliland
